Dark Souls, the original hardcore game where dying is always the expected outcome, is getting a new lease of life on the current generation of consoles and PC thanks to a new remastered edition.
An announcement as part of Nintendo’s latest Direct video that From Software’s game would be coming to their hybrid console was shortly followed by confirmation that the Xbox One, PS4 and PC would also be getting the remastered edition, with support for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.
Xbox One and PS4 will get a new locked 60 fps frame rate and 1080p resolution, while PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will feature upscaled 4K and 60 fps and PC will have native 4K but with 2K textures and 60fps depending on hardware. The Switch version will run at 1080p and 30 fps on TV mode and 720p/30fps in handheld mode.
As well as the resolution and frame rate improvements, dedicated servers and 6 player support will be added to the game.
The game is due for release on 25th May 2018.
